NordicCast

Oslo, Norway · since 2019

We licence it and deliver it.
You just press play

NordicCast started because two people were tired of paying for a cable package, a dish, three streaming apps and a sports add-on to watch about six things. Seven years later we are still independent, still in Oslo, and still bundling while everyone else unbundles.

Our mission

Put all of television back in one place

Choosing what to watch is the enjoyable part. Everything around it — a box, a dish, an engineer's appointment, four apps, a sports add-on and a bill you keep forgetting to cancel — is plumbing. Plumbing should be invisible.

So we obsess over the unglamorous half: rights that are properly licensed, a stream that holds its bitrate at kick-off on a Saturday night, a source that fails over before the picture ever freezes, and a support inbox where a real person answers before your coffee goes cold.

We are deliberately small, profitable and independent. No investor timeline tells us to add an advertising tier, and nobody is waiting for the quarter where we start selling your watch history. That is not on the menu.

Transparent by default

Public status page, published uptime, every price on the website. If a channel is leaving you hear it from us before you notice.

Privacy is not a feature

We do not sell data, there are no ad trackers in the player, and your watch history is never handed to a broadcaster or an advertiser.

Build the boring parts well

Delivery, uptime and billing are unglamorous. They are also what you actually depend on, so they get our best engineers.

Support is the product

Every engineer takes support shifts. It is the fastest way to keep the roadmap honest.

Our story

Seven years, one stubborn idea

From eleven channels in a Grünerløkka flat to 1.9 million households in 31 countries.

2019

A very small channel list

Ida and Kasper launched with eleven licensed channels and a player written over one long winter. The first thousand subscribers all came from word of mouth.

2020

On-demand arrives

Added a catch-up and box-set catalogue, and the first NordicCast Original — a six-part drama filmed in Lofoten on a budget that still makes the finance team wince.

2022

Sport, properly

Signed our first full-season sport rights and built the low-latency delivery path that makes them watchable. Sport has been included in the plan price ever since.

2023

4K, HDR and Atmos

Rebuilt the encoding pipeline end to end. Every original since has been mastered in native 4K with Dolby Vision and an Atmos mix.

2025

One million households

Passed a million paying households across the Nordics and opened the Oslo studio, where four of our originals are now made in-house.

2026

30,000 channels, 1.9M households

Carrying 30,000 channels to 1.9 million households in 31 countries from 42 edge locations — still independent, still headquartered in Oslo.

The people

Twenty-six people, eleven of them on support

Broadcasters, video engineers and one rights lawyer who reads every contract twice. Here are the people you are most likely to hear from.

Ida Solberg

Co-founder & CEO

Fifteen years in public-service broadcasting, most recently running the digital division of a national network.

Kasper Møller

Co-founder & CTO

Built video delivery platforms that have served several billion streams. Owns the player and its opinions about buffering.

Elin Karlsson

Chief Content Officer

Former commissioning editor. Decides what we make, what we buy, and what we politely decline.

Tomas Ruus

Head of Video Engineering

Mastered films before he mastered streams. Responsible for every HDR grade that leaves the building.

Nadia Haugen

Director of Customer Care

Answers faster than most chatbots. Has personally talked more people through an HDMI handshake than she can count.

Oskar Lindholm

Head of Rights & Compliance

Negotiates the licences and keeps the lawyers happy. Every channel on the service went through him first.

Careers

Want to work on the boring parts?

We hire slowly and rarely, but when we do we look for people who care more about a clean failure mode than a clever abstraction. Remote across EU time zones, four-day summer weeks, and no on-call heroics.

Send an open application

Easy to leave

Cancel in two clicks and keep watching until the term you paid for ends. Lock-in is a bug, not a business model.

Local, then global

We started with Nordic broadcasters and Nordic languages. Doing that properly first is why the other 31 countries work.

Open roles

Senior Streaming Engineer (Go), Customer Success Lead (Nordics), and a Product Designer who can prototype in the browser.

Where we are
